Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. They enable us to detect cavities in between teeth, determine bone level, and health of bone. We also can examine the roots and nerves of the teeth. Using digital radiography, we can clearly identify external and internal anatomy and accurately diagnose dental conditions.
Digital radiography technology improves and simplifies the way we care for our patients’ teeth, resulting in better dental evaluations and treatment decisions. As the most important member of your dental team, you need to understand the condition of your mouth and the treatment recommended. Digital radiography helps us to help you.
To take images, a tiny sensor is placed in your mouth to detect a small amount of radiation – up to 90% less than traditional x-rays. The image is detailed and created immediately on the television or computer monitor. We use your x-rays to better educate you on your oral health conditions.
Digital radiographs significantly reduce radiation exposure and protect the Township’s ground water from contamination commonly found in the chemicals used for developing traditional x-rays. The pictures of the teeth are captured on a computer chip and immediately processed for viewing on our computer or television monitor. Images may be enhanced and enlarged for better diagnosis and explanation. There is no wasted time for processing and mounting the films so the staff is more efficient and attentive to your needs.
Computerized, Digital Radiography is faster, safer, and provides better images for more accurate diagnosis.
Digital X-rays offer unparalleled benefits over traditional radiographs: they’re convenient, safe for the environment, provide a great opportunity for patient education, can be transferred and copied accurately, and best of all, they’re safer for our patients. If you have questions about digital X–rays, call us. We’ll do all we can to help.
Digital Panoramic Radiography
The digital panoramic unit used in our office is invaluable in helping us diagnose, treat, and maintain dental health with a single x-ray. We can examine structures with a broad view of the teeth, jaws, sinuses, nasal area, and Temporomandibular joints (TMJ). The panorex reveals problems that we cannot see during a visual examination such as impacted teeth, non-erupting teeth, cavities, bone abnormalities, bone loss, cysts, infection, certain tumors, and fractures – all with significantly less radiation than traditional systems (and without contaminating the environment with chemicals).
